Job Description
Lead Machine Repair Technician
Location: Chesterfield, MI
Pay: $35.00 - $40.00 per hour
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 6:00 AM - 4:30 PM
Overtime: Typically little to no overtime required
Join Our Team
We are seeking an experienced Lead Machine Repair Technician to support the maintenance, repair, and optimization of CNC manufacturing equipment. This is a hands-on role for a skilled technician who excels in troubleshooting complex machine issues, performing rebuilds, and ensuring equipment reliability and uptime.
The ideal candidate will have extensive CNC repair experience, strong knowledge of FANUC controls, and the ability to diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and software-related machine issues.
Key Responsibilities
CNC Machine Repair & Rebuild
- Perform mechanical repairs and complete rebuilds on CNC equipment
- Diagnose and repair CNC controller issues, with a strong focus on FANUC systems
- Remove and replace linear guides, ball screws, and other machine components
- Perform machine leveling, alignment, calibration, and accuracy verification
Preventative Maintenance
- Execute preventative maintenance programs on CNC equipment
- Schedule, document, and improve PM procedures
- Identify and replace worn or damaged machine parts to minimize downtime
Troubleshooting & Diagnostics
- Diagnose and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, mechanical, and software-related issues
- Utilize technical manuals, schematics, diagrams, and OEM resources to resolve machine problems
- Respond quickly and effectively to machine-down situations with a strong sense of urgency
Equipment & Vendor Coordination
- Source replacement parts and coordinate repairs as needed
- Work with equipment manufacturers, vendors, and service providers to support maintenance activities
Qualifications
- Proven hands-on CNC machine repair experience
- Strong working knowledge of FANUC controls and OEM machine systems
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, diagrams, and engineering documentation
- Demonstrated experience repairing, rebuilding, aligning, and calibrating CNC machines
- Ability to troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
- Physical ability to work inside, on top of, and underneath machinery when required
- Strong problem-solving, diagnostic, and communication skills
