Job Description
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
● High School Diploma or equivalent
● CPR Certification
● Be knowledgeable of and adhere to all pertinent federal, state, and local laws, standards
of the Ohio Department of Mental Health, and appropriate professional ethical standards
● The position requires the ability to respond appropriately to crisis or emergency
situations, including at least basic training crisis intervention
● Complies with agency policies and procedures, COA regulations, federal and state
requirements, and educational/certification/registry requirements
● Skills in crisis intervention and emergency services
● The ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
● De-escalation skills
● The ability to establish and maintain clinically effective relationships with clients
● Ability to meet agency requirements for criminal background check
● Ability to function as part of an organization by working with others and by adhering to
established policies and procedures
● Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Observing Patients, closely monitoring patients, observing their behaviors and recording
any new symptoms or signs of distress.
● Monitor vital signs, monitor and record vital signs
● Assisting with daily activities, daily tasks, such as eating, and taking medications.
● Help clients participate in group counseling or group meetings
● Provide emotional support to clients and reassure relatives
● Alert medical professionals in case of emergencies
● Assist medical providers to carry out treatment plans
● Create supportive environments to clients
● Maintains strict confidentiality and protects clients privacy.
● Maintains appropriate documentation, including internal personnel records, operating
reports and specific duties and analyses.
● Responsible for being a role model to persons with substance/mental health use
disorders.
● Maintain/ complete and able to facilitate recovery related groups, teaching relaxation
strategies, facilitating supportive interventions.
● Provides mentor persons with a substance use disorder and others in the recovery
process.
