Position Overview
Moon Valley Farm is expanding into a dedicated food hub, and we’re looking for a sales operator to run our restaurant and wholesale channel. The Restaurant & Institutional Sales Associate will be the primary point of contact for our restaurant and wholesale customers — managing existing relationships, onboarding new accounts, and actively developing new business across both channels.
You’ll work from the Moon Valley Food Hub, coordinating directly with operations on product availability and order logistics while building a growing book of restaurant, school, and institutional accounts. You’ll have a dedicated wholesale ordering site to streamline account management, allowing you to handle a broad customer base efficiently while staying focused on growth.
This role is made for someone who is equally comfortable building relationships over the phone and walking into a restaurant kitchen with a sample box.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage ongoing restaurant and wholesale account relationships — order coordination, availability updates, and issue resolution
- Own the weekly chef email and reserve order confirmation process
- Develop new restaurant accounts: outreach, first visits, sample box deliveries, and follow-up through to onboarding
- Grow the institutional sales channel — schools, hospitals, nonprofits, and Food Is Medicine / FAM program accounts
- Coordinate with food hub operations and the aggregation team on product availability, delivery logistics, and order accuracy
- Log all activity in HubSpot — every visit, contact, account status, and pipeline stage
- Identify patterns and surface recurring issues or opportunities to the Sales Director
What You’re Inheriting
You won’t be starting from scratch. This role takes over an established base of restaurant accounts and an active institutional pipeline currently managed across multiple team members. Your job is to consolidate that foundation, stabilize it, and grow from it.
What Success Looks Like
- Restaurant and wholesale channel revenue grows quarter over quarter
- New restaurant accounts are opened consistently each quarter
- Institutional and FAM pipeline is active and converting
- Existing accounts are ordering reliably through the LFM wholesale site
Qualifications
Required:
A relationship builder who can open doors and keep them open
- Experience in restaurant sales, food distribution, or farm-to-table supply
- Organized and self-directed — you manage your own pipeline and don’t need to be chased
- Comfortable with food service, procurement cycles, and the rhythm of weekly ordering
Preferred:
- Experience with different funding sources (many customers utilize grants, credit cards, corporate funds, etc)
- Familiarity with LFM (Local Food Marketplace), HubSpot, or similar platforms
- Based in or able to commute to the Moon Valley Food Hub location
We are looking for someone who
- Builds and maintains relationships with genuine care for the accounts they serve
- Stays organized across a broad book of business without losing track of the details
- Brings energy and initiative to new account development — not just maintenance
- Understands that consistent communication and reliable follow-through are what keep restaurant accounts ordering
- Is excited to be part of building something new in the local food system
This role is ideal for someone who values meaningful work, relationship-driven sales, and supporting a growing local food system.
