Special Education Teacher in Farmington, ME

Step into a meaningful role supporting middle school students as an onsite Special Education Teacher for the upcoming 26-27 school year. This position centers around a resource room environment, working directly with a 6th–8th grade caseload. You’ll foster student growth, create an inclusive classroom atmosphere, and collaborate closely with a supportive educational team. The assignment runs from August 28, 2026 through June 10, 2027, with a 35–40 hour work week, Monday through Friday. Full-time applicants are strongly preferred, though part-time availability may be considered for outstanding candidates.

Qualifications:

• Valid Maine teaching certification with a 282 Endorsement (Special Education)
• Previous experience supporting students in special education, preferably at the middle school level
• Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, and adapt individualized education programs (IEPs)
• Skilled at fostering positive relationships with students, families, and staff
• Effective organizational, communication, and classroom management skills
• Commitment to inclusivity and student-centered teaching

Responsibilities:

• Provide specialized instruction and resource room support for middle school students (grades 6–8)
• Write, maintain, and implement IEPs in compliance with state and federal regulations
• Collaborate with general educators, related service providers, and families to ensure student success
• Collect and analyze student data to inform instructional decisions and IEP goals
• Participate in team meetings, parent conferences, and school-based initiatives
• Uphold confidentiality and advocate for the diverse needs of students
