Special Education Teacher in Winthrop, ME

Qualifications:

• Valid Maine 282 Endorsement in Special Education, or eligibility to obtain
• Experience teaching students with diverse learning needs, preferably in a resource room or similar environment
• Strong understanding of middle school curriculum and IEP (Individualized Education Program) processes
• Effective communication skills for partnering with students, families, and staff
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive classroom environment

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement individualized lesson plans for middle school students in grades 6-8
• Collaborate with general education teachers, school counselors, and administrators to ensure student growth and success
• Track and monitor student progress, adjusting instruction and supports as needed
• Maintain accurate and thorough documentation in compliance with state and federal guidelines
• Engage in regular communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress
