Deliver meaningful communication access every day in a vibrant, supportive school environment as a Sign Language Interpreter. In this dynamic per diem role, you’ll collaborate closely with students and staff to ensure seamless interpretation and help foster an inclusive learning experience for K-12 learners. With flexible scheduling available as needed throughout the academic year, your expertise will make a valuable difference while providing opportunities for professional growth.
Qualifications:
- Valid BEI Sign Language Interpreter License required
- Experience interpreting in educational or school settings
- Skilled in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Comfortable working with K-12 students of varying communicative needs
- Strong commitment to facilitating equitable participation for Deaf and hard-of-hearing students
- Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving abilities
Responsibilities:
- Provide accurate sign language interpretation for students and staff in classrooms, meetings, and school activities
- Foster clear, accessible communication between Deaf and hearing individuals
- Support students in both academic and social settings, ensuring they can fully participate
- Adapt interpretation style to suit the needs and preferences of each student
- Collaborate with educational staff to promote best practices and support positive learning outcomes
- Adhere to ethical guidelines and maintain confidentiality at all times
