Regional Office Manager
Location: Los Angeles, CA (Regional Travel Required)
Salary: $110,000 – $130,000

Direct Counsel is seeking a Regional Office Manager to join a well-established, multi-office law firm. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and administrative functions of multiple West Coast offices while partnering closely with firm leadership to ensure operational excellence, exceptional employee engagement, and consistent service delivery. The Regional Office Manager will oversee office operations, facilities, and legal support staff while fostering a collaborative and high-performing workplace culture.

This position reports to the Chief Human Resources Officer with a dotted-line reporting relationship to the Partner-in-Charge of each assigned office.

ResponsibilitiesPeople Management
  • Supervise legal support staff, including paralegals, legal assistants, and legal secretaries across multiple offices.
  • Manage staffing assignments and workloads in collaboration with office leadership.
  • Build strong relationships with attorneys to understand workflow needs and ensure effective staff support.
  • Lead recruitment efforts, including sourcing, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding new employees.
  • Coordinate new hire orientation, training, workstation setup, and office integration.
  • Monitor and approve employee timekeeping and overtime requests.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and annual reviews.
  • Administer firm policies consistently and partner with Human Resources on employee relations, disciplinary matters, and performance management.
  • Manage employee departures, including exit interviews, equipment collection, and workflow transitions.
  • Promote a positive workplace culture through employee recognition, engagement initiatives, office meetings, and firm events.
Office Operations
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of multiple regional offices, ensuring consistent standards and best practices.
  • Develop and implement operational procedures that align with firm-wide policies.
  • Monitor office budgets and purchasing activities.
  • Coordinate maintenance and operation of office equipment, including copiers, scanners, audiovisual technology, and other office resources.
  • Oversee office moves, furniture installations, workstation setup, and space planning.
  • Ensure shared office spaces, conference rooms, reception areas, and employee common areas are maintained to a professional standard.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with building management and coordinate facility maintenance requests.
  • Assist with emergency preparedness planning and office communications.
  • Partner with Accounting, Information Technology, Human Resources, and other administrative departments to support office operations.
  • Coordinate onsite technology installations and operational projects.
  • Lead or assist with firm-wide operational initiatives and special projects.
Qualifications
  • 3–5 years of progressively responsible management experience within a law firm or other professional services environment.
  • Prior experience as a legal assistant or paralegal is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of office administration, facilities management, and human resources practices.
  • Experience supervising and developing professional support staff.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with legal industry software and systems.
  • Excellent organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Outstanding interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness and ability to travel between regional offices as needed.
