SPED Autism Specialist (Special Education)
Location: Sterling, VA 20165
Duration: 46-Week Contract
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 07:00 AM – 02:45 PM
Weekly Hours: 7.75 hours/day
We are seeking a dedicated Special Education (SPED) Professional – Autism to support students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in a structured educational setting. This role focuses on delivering instructional and behavioral support, implementing IEPs, and fostering an inclusive learning environment that promotes academic and social development.
🔑 Key Responsibilities- Provide instructional and behavioral support to students with ASD
- Implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and classroom accommodations
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, administrators, and parents
- Support development of academic, communication, social, and life skills
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation
- Apply positive behavior intervention strategies and classroom management techniques
- Maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive classroom environment
- Assist with daily routines and student transitions
- Participate in staff meetings, IEP meetings, and professional development
- Perform additional duties as assigned by school administration
- Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education or a related field (preferred)
- Valid Virginia Special Education License/Certification (or eligibility as required)
- Experience working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) (preferred)
- Strong knowledge of IEP implementation and special education practices
- Effective classroom management and behavior intervention skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
