Job Title: Registered Nurse – Post Anesthesia Care Unit
Location: Syracuse, NY
Type: Contract
Shift & Schedule: Day Shift | 3 x 12-Hour Shifts | 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM | Every Other Weekend | Some On-Call Required
Pay Rate: $63.00 – $70.00 per hour (Local & Traveler) (Based on Experience)

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to provide high-quality post-anesthesia care for adult patients in a fast-paced recovery room. The ideal candidate will have strong PACU and Critical Care experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, monitor, and provide comprehensive nursing care for patients recovering from anesthesia.

  • Perform thorough patient assessments and promptly identify changes in patient condition.

  • Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments according to physician orders and nursing standards.

  • Monitor airway, pain management, hemodynamic status, and recovery progress following surgical procedures.

  • Collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure safe patient recovery.

  • Document patient assessments, treatments, and outcomes accurately using the electronic medical record system.

  • Maintain compliance with hospital policies, patient safety standards, and evidence-based nursing practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Current New York State Registered Nurse License.

  • Minimum of 2 years of recent Adult PACU and Critical Care experience in an acute care hospital.

  • Current BLS Certification.

  • Experience working in hospitals of similar size, larger facilities, or trauma centers.

  • Strong acute care assessment and critical thinking skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using the EPIC electronic medical record system.

  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and patient care skills.
