The Director of Social Services is responsible for the oversight, coordination, and delivery of psychosocial services to residents. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while promoting resident rights, quality of life, and person-centered care. The Director of Social Services oversees all aspects of psychosocial assessment, care planning, discharge planning, and resident advocacy, and provides leadership to the Social Services department.

Responsibilities:
- Supervises psychosocial support and services provided by Social Worker and Social Services Designee.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizational policies and applicable laws.
- Interviews, recommend hires and trains employees.
- Plans, assigns, and directs workflow.
- Prepares work assignment sheets, taking into consideration resident safety, the educational preparation, experience, knowledge and ability of the persons to whom the assignments are made.
- Receive calls and find replacements for absent staff as needed.
- Transfers employees within units as needed.
- Prepares performance evaluations with the understanding that such evaluations impact tenure of probationary employees and wage increases of non-probationary employees.
- Adequately supervises assigned staff and assures that those staff are supervising employees assigned to them.
Education and/or Experience:
- Minimum of bachelor’s degree in social work or bachelor’s degree in a human services field including but not limited to sociology, gerontology, special education, rehabilitation counseling, and psychology; Master’s degree preferred.
- One year supervised social work experience in a health care setting.
- Supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of federal and state long-term care regulations.
- Strong knowledge of chronic illness, dementia, behavioral health, and discharge planning.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- Current Social Work license in the state as required by state regulations.
- LSW, LMSW, LCSW, LBSW, LLBSW, or LLMSW preferred.
