Job Description
Production Manager
Symmtrex | Bonham, TX | Full-Time, On-Site with Regular Field Travel
About Symmtrex
Symmtrex is a cold-formed steel panelization and manufacturing company based in Bonham, Texas. We fabricate panelized light-gauge steel wall systems on Howick roll formers and run a growing spray foam insulation line. We build for developers and contractors who need speed, precision, and repeatability. We are getting real traction in the market, and we need someone to own and lead operations so we can deliver on it.
The Role
We are looking for a Production Manager to own day-to-day manufacturing across both of our production lines: cold-formed steel wall panels and spray foam insulation. This is a working manager role. You will lead the crew, set the schedule, and own the numbers. You will be the person accountable for what comes off our floor and what gets produced in the field. This job is not confined to the shop. Our work continues on job sites, and you will be out there with it.
You'll Fit Here If
- You're obsessed with the numbers and pushing production to hit key metrics
- You make the call when a job changes mid-run instead of waiting for direction
- You are willing to run a station yourself when the schedule demands it
- You will have the hard conversation when someone is not meeting the standard
- You fix a broken process rather than working around it
- You stop when something seems off so you can troubleshoot it properly
- You want the job to grow into something bigger
What You'll Do
- Run daily production across steel panel fabrication and spray foam, from job release to completion
- Manage field production, including spray foam application and panel work on job sites, and hold the same standards on site that we hold in the shop
- Lead, schedule, train, and hold accountable both shop and field crews
- Own our ERP system as the single source of truth for production: keep job and material data accurate, build out workflows, and drive adoption in the shop and the field
- Build, track, and report on production KPIs: output, cycle time, yield, rework, on-time completion
- Own the QA/QC program across both lines and both environments, including inspection standards, documentation, and corrective action
- Own the material audit process: track material in and out, reconcile usage against jobs, and maintain the records required for compliance
- Read and interpret shop drawings and panel takeoffs, and turn them into realistic production schedules
- Manage material flow and stock levels for steel coil, fasteners, and foam chemicals
- Step onto the floor or onto a job site and work a station when the job requires it
- Coordinate with estimating and sales on timelines, capacity, and feasibility
- Identify and drive process improvements that cut waste, rework, and cycle time
- Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly shop floor and safe field operations
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (mechanical, industrial, manufacturing, civil, or related)
- 1 to 5 years of experience in manufacturing, fabrication, or construction, including time leading a crew
- Willingness to be in the field regularly, on active job sites, not just in the shop
- Proven ability to lead a crew and hold people accountable, without needing to be the most senior person in the room
- Working knowledge of ERP or production tracking systems, and the discipline to keep the data clean
- Experience owning quality control and material or inventory documentation
- Willingness to work on the floor when needed, paired with the capability to handle higher-level work like KPI development, planning, and process design
- Sharp attention to detail and a habit of catching errors before they reach the floor
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to keep multiple jobs and priorities straight
- Critical thinking and sound judgment when plans need to change
- Ability to read and interpret construction or shop drawings
- Comfort with spreadsheets and production data
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with cold-formed steel framing, panelization, insulation, or construction
- Experience implementing or administering an ERP system
- Experience managing across more than one production line or process
- Experience running work on active construction sites
