Controller

Our client, a well-established and growing real estate development company based in Miami, is seeking an experienced and strategic Controller to lead its accounting and financial operations. This position offers the opportunity to play a key leadership role within the organization, partnering closely with executive management and external stakeholders while overseeing all aspects of accounting, financial reporting, and internal controls.

The ideal candidate will bring a combination of corporate accounting experience and industry experience within real estate development, construction, or related sectors. This individual must be a strong communicator, collaborative leader, and hands-on accounting professional who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
• Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
• Prepare and review financial statements, management reports, and supporting schedules.
• Manage budgeting, forecasting, cash flow analysis, and financial planning activities.
• Develop, maintain, and improve internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures.
• Partner with executive leadership to provide financial insights and strategic recommendations.
• Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors, tax advisors, lenders, investors, and other business partners.
• Oversee corporate accounting functions while supporting development and project-related accounting activities.
• Mentor, develop, and lead the accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and all applicable regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA strongly preferred.
• 8+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including leadership responsibilities.
• Combination of corporate accounting experience and industry experience within real estate development, construction, real estate investment, or related industries.
• Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls.
• Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively interact with executives, investors, lenders, auditors, and operational teams.
• Strategic mindset with a willingness to remain hands-on when needed.
• Strong systems knowledge and proficiency with ERP/accounting platforms.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
