Lead Retail Associate

This hands-on, dual-focused role for Forgotten Angels Retail Operations combines front-end checkout leadership with backend product valuation. You will direct front-end activities, manage register cash flow, research market values for donations (including collectibles), and price items for the sales floor. This active role requires decisive judgment, integrity, and leadership to mentor team members and ensure a profitable, efficient, and welcoming store environment.

Key Responsibilities

Front-End & Cashier Leadership

• POS Operations: Process customer transactions, returns, and exchanges accurately and efficiently.
• Cash Management: Maintain register drawers, perform secure cash drops, and execute opening/closing countdowns.
• Senior Auditing: Perform shift-level cash audits, register overrides, and assist leadership with financial drops.
• Customer & Mission Service: Welcome guests warmly, promote round-up donations, and share how purchases benefit our "Angels."
• Volunteer Mentorship: Guide, train, and patiently work alongside volunteers and community service individuals.
• Impulse Merchandising: Maintain, clean, and restock point-of-purchase displays near registers to drive add-on sales.

Valuation & Pricing Operations

• Collectible & Product Research: Diligently research market values, brands, and trends for various categories, specializing in collectibles.
• Quality Inspection: Test functionality and inspect all incoming items to determine if they are fit for sale.
• Cleaning & Preparation: Clean, dust, and sanitize accepted merchandise so it is floor-ready and hygienic.
• Tagging & Staging: Price items accurately according to standards and stage them clearly for floor runners.
• Waste Management: Discard broken or unacceptable items safely and properly to keep workspaces clutter-free.

Job Requirements

• Experience: Previous retail checkout, electronic POS cash handling, and product pricing/evaluation experience preferred.
• Skills: Strong research abilities (for digital market pricing), basic math, and exceptional interpersonal skills.
• Attributes: High level of honesty, integrity, and decisive judgment when assigning values to goods or handling money.
• Physical: Ability to stand for long periods, bend, bag items, and lift donation boxes weighing up to 40 lbs.
• Schedule: Flexible availability, including mandatory weekend shifts.
