Associated Health Professionals, Inc. (AHP), a Joint Commission Certified supplemental healthcare staffing agency, is seeking experienced Operating Room Registered Nurses (RNs) to support the VA Northern California Health Care System in Martinez, CA.

This is an excellent opportunity for experienced nurses seeking a full-time (Monday–Friday schedule) position at a VA healthcare facility

Position Details:

  • Position: Registered Nurse (RN) – Operating Room
  • Location: VA Northern California Health Care System – Martinez, CA
  • Employment Type: Full-Time
  • Schedule: Monday–Friday
  • Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM or 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
  • Pay: $75/hr /$3,000/week
  • Benefits: Available and customized to your individual needs as part of your compensation package

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required for Federal Employment (VA) positions.
  • Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of current, consecutive OR experience
  • Must be able to function as both a Circulating Nurse and Scrub Nurse
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift, push, pull, and move equipment and supplies in accordance with safe patient handling guidelines.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Collaborate closely with a small, team‐based OR staff
  • Prepare patients, equipment, and the operating room for surgery
  • Monitor patients throughout surgical procedures and respond appropriately to changes in condition.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate approach to caring for Veteran patients.
  • Maintain compliance with VA policies, safety standards, and infection control procedures
  • Document patient care accurately in the electronic health record (EHR)
  • Previous experience in an ambulatory surgery center and a collaborative team environment is a plus
  • Experience with moderate sedation & ability to circulate GI procedures is a plus
  • Support mostly minor, outpatient surgical cases in the following specialties:

- General Surgery (including laparoscopic hernia repairs and laparoscopic cholecystectomies)

- Pain Management procedures

- Ophthalmology (Eye Surgery)

- Ear, Nose & Throat (ENT)

- Orthopedic Surgery

- Plastic Surgery

- Urology

- Vascular

- Podiatry

  • Float to other perioperative areas as needed, including:

- GI Suite (2 procedure rooms onsite)

- Pre-Operative

- PACU / Recovery
