Job Description

The Café Manager oversees both front-of-house (FOH) and back-of-house (BOH) operations, ensuring exceptional guest experiences, operational excellence, and team development. This role is responsible for staffing, training, managing, and maintaining brand standards across all aspects of the café. The Café Manager plays a critical role in leading a dynamic team, driving performance, and ensuring a safe and efficient work environment.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead FOH and BOH operations with a hands-on management approach.
  • Hire, train, manage, and discipline team members, including supervisors and assistant managers.
  • Ensure the café is appropriately staffed by recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding team members.
  • Foster a positive, high-performance team culture rooted in the brand’s core values.

Operational Excellence

  • Ensure proficiency in all café positions and successfully complete required training programs, including Café Basics, Certified Trainer, and Crew Leader Training.
  • Supervise and delegate daily café tasks including prep, food and smoothie preparation, customer service, and cleanliness.
  • Ensure adherence to all food safety, sanitation, and health guidelines, including ServSafe compliance.
  • Maintain operational standards related to speed, quality, hospitality, and safety.

Guest Experience

  • Create a welcoming and engaging atmosphere for guests by leading hospitality initiatives.
  • Monitor and maintain brand standards related to service and product quality.
  • Address guest concerns and resolve issues to ensure satisfaction.

Financial & Inventory Management

  • Manage labor costs and schedules to align with sales goals and budget.
  • Oversee inventory, manage pars, and ensure all equipment is operational to meet brand standards.
  • Support and drive achievement of café-level financial targets.

Requirements

Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in restaurant or café management.
  • Proven ability to lead a team in a fast-paced food service environment.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Experience managing labor, budgets, and scheduling.

Certifications & Qualifications

  • ServSafe Certified (required).
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S.

Physical & Working Conditions

  • Must be able to stand and walk for the entire shift.
  • Able to bend, lift, and carry up to 30 lbs (e.g., stocking, trash, refilling supplies).
  • Frequent face-to-face interaction with crew and customers.
  • Able to multitask and remain calm in high-pressure environments.
  • Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
