Busser - Food Runner

General Purpose: The Busser-Food Runner works collaboratively with the restaurant personnel to create a positive dining experience for guests. Their primary responsibilities are to expedite and provided great food service to guests and to turn tables fast and efficiently.

Essential Duties:

• Serves as an Expo in organizing tickets and communicating orders with line cooks.
• Verifies correct ticket order and food presentation per recipe guideline and guest’s order.
• Delivers food to correct tables according to ticket and floor seating plan.
• Interacts with guests, re-fills drinks, answers menu questions, and informs servers of any requests.
• Replaces used condiments, filthy tablecloths, silverware, and linens to ensure that each diner has everything they require for their meal.
• Prepares and re-stock Expo-line garnishments and sauces as needed.
• Cleans surfaces and clears tables of soiled utensils, napkins, and plates so that they are ready for the next guests, dinning and patio area.
• Assist servers in delivering and refilling beverages.
• Keep all bussing stations organized and free of clutter to include: folding bread folds, putting away all food products, empty and clean bread stations, etc.
• Follows closing procedures: empty trash, bread station, linen bags, ice, ice tea, and glass rack.
• Store food such as lemons, limes, and butter.
• Check with hostess to see what needs to be set up for the next shift
• Maintains and replenishes Brunch buffet items. Ensure items are full at all times, clean and presentable.
• Maintains high standard of personal appearance and grooming, which includes wearing proper uniform and nametag.
• Maintain regular attendance as required by scheduling, which will vary according to the needs of the restaurant.
• Maintains safe work habits and work environment.
• Attends pre-shift: and designated staff meetings as well as training sessions.
• Must have a flexible schedule and must be able to work weekends, holidays and special events
• Other duties may be assigned.

Education/Experience: Some high school/college education preferred; or 2-3 years related experience or training.

Language Skills: Required to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to read and speak English may be required in order to perform the duties of the job

Mathematical Skills: Basic math skills required.

Reasoning Ability: Problem solving, reasoning, and “thinking out of the box” will be a constant requirement; in addition, applying common sense understanding better serve our guests’ needs – both our internal and external guests.

Physical Demands: Ability to walk and stand; talk or hear; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects; reach with hands and arms, for the duration of the shift up to 8 hours. Ability to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects up to 20 pounds on a tray. Ability to maneuver through the dining area while carrying full trays of food and beverages. Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to fifty (50) pounds utilizing safe lifting practices. Frequently lifts and/or moves furniture on the restaurant floor. Ability to perform repetitive movements such as cleaning and wiping tables and glasses.

Vision Requirements: Regularly uses close, distance, color, and peripheral vision as well as depth perception. Ability to adjust focus.

Environment/Noise: Works in an indoor environment and occasionally in wet, hot, humid, or cool conditions-including outdoor weather conditions. Noise level is moderate.

Certificates/Licenses: Food Handlers Card and RBS Certified

Skill and Ability Preferences

• 3 years of Busser experience preferred
• 3 years of Food Runner experience preferred
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment
• Ability to multi-task and work under pressure
• Effective communication and good organizational skills
• Sanitation and safety oriented
