Job Description

The Manufacturing Engineer applies engineering knowledge to support process development, fixture design, and continuous improvement in a sheet metal fabrication environment. This role requires demonstrated ability to self manage assigned projects involving brackets and simple assemblies. The Manufacturing Engineer I understands the flow of manufacturing operations, models components in CAD with confidence, and provides reliable engineering support to production with moderate supervision.


CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Independently manage assigned engineering projects involving brackets, simple weldments, and basic assemblies.
  • Develop and document manufacturing processes, routings, work instructions, and tooling requirements for assigned parts.
  • Perform DFM reviews and communicate recommendations to customers or internal stakeholders.
  • Design and detail fixtures and tooling for assigned applications using CAD software.
  • Support production launch activities including first-article verification, operator setup instruction, and process sign-off.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities in assigned process areas.
  • Maintain accurate engineering data, BOM structures, and documentation in the ERP system.
  • Collaborate with programming, planning, quality, and operations to resolve day-to-day engineering issues.
  • Support capital equipment commissioning and process validation activities as assigned.
  • Follow all safety policies, quality standards, and engineering procedures.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline required.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment; sheet metal fabrication experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks or equivalent CAD software for part and assembly modeling.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T notation with confidence.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage assigned projects to completion with moderate supervision.
  • Working knowledge of sheet metal fabrication processes including laser cutting, punching, and forming.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills across technical and production functions.
  • Basic ERP data entry and documentation experience preferred.
