HOME HEALTH AIDE (HHA)

Life Skills Development Services (Companion) – North Miami Beach, FL

PROPOSED SCHEDULE

• Monday through Friday
• Six hours per day
• Approximately 30 hours per week
• Exact daily start and end times will be discussed during the interview
• Consistent attendance and punctuality are essential

Responsibilities:

• Provide continuous one-to-one supervision and companionship.
• Support participation in safe, meaningful community activities.
• Encourage socialization, communication, choice-making, and independence.
• Assist with practicing appropriate community behavior and public-safety skills.
• Provide reminders and assistance with authorized daily living and personal-care activities.
• Communicate using simple directions, visual cues, gestures, and other client-preferred methods.
• Follow the individual’s authorized support plan, behavior plan, safety procedures, and agency policies.
• Use calm redirection and approved positive behavioral-support techniques.
• Recognize and report changes in behavior, physical condition, or emotional presentation.
• Complete accurate and timely service documentation.
• Communicate professionally with the agency, residential staff, family representatives, and other authorized members of the support team.
• Protect the individual’s privacy, dignity, rights, and confidential information.

Required Qualifications:

• Current Home Health Aide certificate or other agency-approved qualification.
• Ability to satisfy all agency, payer, training, and background-screening requirements before assignment.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification, or ability to obtain them before beginning services.
• Previous experience supporting adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
• Experience following behavior-support plans and working with individuals who may experience anxiety, frustration, communication difficulties, refusal, or challenging behaviors.
• Calm, patient, observant, dependable, and nonconfrontational demeanor.
• Comfortable providing respectful assistance with personal care and hygiene when authorized.
• Ability to maintain close supervision and respond appropriately to safety concerns.
• Ability to follow written instructions and complete accurate documentation.
• Reliable attendance and commitment to maintaining a consistent weekday schedule.
• Professional communication and ability to work cooperatively with a multidisciplinary support team.
• Valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and reliable insured transportation if transportation is included in the assignment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bilingual in Spanish and English.
• Experience providing one-to-one Companion or Medicaid Waiver services.
• Training in positive behavioral supports, crisis prevention, or de-escalation.
• Experience supporting individuals with limited expressive communication.
• Experience teaching community participation, socialization, grooming, and independent-living skills.

COMPENSATION
$ 15.00-17.00 an hour
