Lead Packaging Technician (1st Shift)

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced 1st Shift Lead Maintenance Technician to oversee and support high-speed filling and packaging equipment in a GMP-regulated manufacturing environment. This role serves as the senior technical resource on the production floor, driving equipment reliability, uptime, safety, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
Leadership
Lead and coordinate daily activities of maintenance technicians
Mentor junior mechanics and support cross-training initiatives
Partner with Production to prioritize repairs and changeovers
Assist in developing SOPs and preventive maintenance procedures
Support onboarding and technical training programs

Safety & Quality
Enforce lockout/tagout and plant safety policies
Promote a safety-first culture
Support root cause investigations and corrective actions
Ensure all work complies with cGMP standards
Maintain accurate maintenance documentation

Equipment Reliability & Productivity
Troubleshoot and repair high-speed filling and packaging equipment including:
Groninger filling machines
PKB filling systems
JG volumetric fillers
Kalix cartoners
Sollas wrapping machines
Labeling systems and checkweighers
Perform advanced electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical diagnostics
Execute and document preventive maintenance schedules
Drive root cause analysis for recurring breakdowns
Support OEE improvement and waste reduction initiatives
Assist with capital projects, equipment upgrades, and new product launches

Requirements

5+ years of experience in high-speed GMP manufacturing

Strong troubleshooting skills in electrical and mechanical systems

Ability to read electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and pneumatic diagrams

Demonstrated leadership or mentoring experience

Experience working with CMMS systems

Proficiency in Microsoft Office

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a dynamic production environment

Preferences

Associate degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Technology

Experience with fragrance filling and packaging equipment

Experience supporting capital equipment installations

Advanced knowledge of OEE and continuous improvement methodologies
