Job Summary
Conducts mental health assessments; provides ongoing individual and group counseling services, screens for human trafficking concerns, and provides crisis intervention services. Must provide child-facing services on-site.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Interview individuals, couples, families, and other involved persons to gather personal and social data relevant to assessing psychological (mental, behavioral, and emotional disorders)
- Conduct thorough biopsychosocial assessments on individuals
- Develop person-centered, strength-based treatment plans
- Coordinate care with other staff members and community agencies
- Provide psychoeducation to individuals, families, and groups
- Assist individuals, and families in understanding and choosing options for mental health treatment
- Initiate and conduct individual and group therapy sessions
- Perform specialized tasks, including involuntary hospitalization procedures (5150) and Tarasoff assessments
- Prepare reports and compose correspondence
- Act as a case consultant to other clinical therapists and other departmental staff
- Coordinate clinical decisions in response to operational demands
- Perform crisis intervention during scheduled work hours and on-call
Requirements and Qualifications
- Education: Master’s degree or doctorate degree in Social Work (MSW), Psychology, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or other behavioral discipline in which clinical experience is a program requirement from an accredited institution.
- Licensure: Active California license or eligible for licensure issued by the CA Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS). Nonlicensed staff must be actively working towards licensure while employed and attain licensure within 3 years of employment date.
- Experience: Experience providing direct mental health care in an agency, residential, or psychiatric setting (outside of private practice). Previous experience professional social work experience. .
- Language: Bilingual in Spanish and English (Required).
- Certifications:
- Crisis Intervention Certification (required within 90 days of hire).
- Formal training in trauma-informed or trauma-focused psychotherapy (strongly preferred).
- Additional Requirements:
- Valid California Driver’s License, reliable personal vehicle available to travel to meet with clients, and active auto insurance for required travel.
- Flexibility to maintain 24/7 on-call availability as needed and provide coverage during evenings, weekends, or holidays based on case requirements.
- Self-directed and able to work without supervision
- Be at least 21 years of age
- Successful completion of background check
- Be able to show proof of immunity to vaccine-preventable diseases transmitted by the respiratory route [i.e.: MMR, Flu, etc.]
