Job Title: CNC MachinistJob Description

This role focuses on producing high-quality machined parts by setting up and operating CNC mills and lathes, performing changeovers and offsets, and maintaining strict quality standards throughout the machining process. You will use precision measuring tools and blueprint reading skills to ensure parts meet specifications, while following established safety procedures in a clean, climate-controlled job shop environment.

Responsibilities
  • Gauge and maintain the quality of parts throughout the machining process, ensuring all components meet required specifications.
  • Maintain quality standards for production parts by following written quality procedures and established shop practices.
  • Perform CNC machine setups, changeovers, and offsets on mills and lathes to support efficient production.
  • Read and interpret blueprints to determine machining requirements, dimensions, and tolerances.
  • Conduct quality checks using micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring instruments to verify part accuracy.
  • Read and understand G-code and M-code to monitor, adjust, and troubleshoot CNC programs as needed.
  • Build and adjust tooling required for production runs, ensuring tools are properly prepared and maintained.
  • Perform minor repairs and maintenance on cutting tools during the production process to maintain optimal performance.
  • Maintain accurate part counts and data integrity by properly clocking in and out on the computer-based data collection system.
  • Mark and/or tag stock items with identifying material information and prepare necessary paperwork for proper routing of materials.
  • Follow and adhere to company safety policies, procedures, and practices at all times.
  • Maintain good housekeeping standards and contribute to a safe, organized, and clean working environment.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals related to productivity, quality, and on-time delivery.
Essential Skills
  • Hands-on experience operating CNC mills and lathes, including performing setups, changeovers, and offsets.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints to determine machining operations and specifications.
  • Proficiency using precision measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers to perform quality checks.
  • Ability to read and understand G-code and M-code for CNC machining operations.
  • Experience working with CNC equipment such as Haas and Okuma machines.
  • Ability to work with 3-axis and 5-axis CNC machines or willingness to learn multi-axis operations.
  • Capability to build and adjust tooling to support machining processes.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as required for handling materials and tooling.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining data integrity and accurate part counts.
  • Consistent adherence to safety procedures and good housekeeping practices in a manufacturing environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with 5-axis CNC machining is a strong plus.
  • Familiarity with job shop environments where a variety of parts and setups are common.
  • Comfort working with both 3-axis and 5-axis configurations in a production setting.
  • Ability to perform minor cutting tool maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adjust machine settings to maintain quality and productivity.
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed to support production demands.

Work Environment

This position is based in a job shop environment that is climate controlled, providing a comfortable and consistent workspace throughout the year. The shop runs CNC equipment, including Haas and Okuma machines with 3-axis and 5-axis capabilities, and uses computer-based data collection systems for tracking work and production. There is significant overtime available, offering opportunities for additional earnings. Two primary shifts are available: a first shift from 5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with two Saturdays per month, and a second shift from 3:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m., Monday through Friday, which includes a shift differential for second shift. The environment emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and good housekeeping, with clear procedures and practices to maintain a safe and organized workplace.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $35.00/hr.
