Make a meaningful difference for students across various schools as an Itinerant Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH). Starting August 25th, this full-time contract opportunity covers a 10-12 week maternity leave in the scenic region near Battle Ground, WA. As an integral resource, you will provide specialized support to students with a range of hearing needs.

This role offers flexibility and the chance to collaborate with diverse school teams, families, and professionals through weekly visits to different sites within the district. As you champion accessibility and inclusion, your expertise will guide instructional planning, accommodation, and advocacy for students who are Deaf or hard of hearing.

Qualifications:

  • Valid OSPI Certification with Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) endorsement
  • Prior success working with students who use cochlear implants, hearing aids, FM systems, and American Sign Language
  • Proficiency designing and implementing appropriate accommodations and instructional strategies
  • Strong ability to communicate and collaborate with staff, students, and families
  • Commitment to fostering an accessible, inclusive learning environment

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct instruction and consultative support for students in multiple school settings
  • Assess student needs and advocate for necessary classroom modifications and assistive technology
  • Support students using a variety of communication methods, including spoken language, FM systems, and ASL
  • Collaborate with teachers, service providers, and families to develop and implement individual education plans (IEPs)
  • Provide outreach, training, and expertise to school staff on Deaf and Hard of Hearing resources and best practices
