Assistant Chief Nursing Officer (ACNO) – Behavioral Health

Full-Time | Days (No Weekends)

 

Overview

Join a 280-bed acute care hospital with a 124-bed Behavioral Health unit, serving the community for over 45 years. As the Assistant Chief Nursing Officer (ACNO), you will work alongside the CNO to drive clinical excellence, operational performance, and strategic growth across behavioral health services.

 

Role Summary

The ACNO is a key executive leader responsible for supporting nursing operations, advancing patient-centered care, and developing leadership capabilities. This role oversees multiple patient care areas, leads strategic initiatives, and builds a strong culture of quality, safety, and engagement.

 

Key Responsibilities

Quality & Operations

  • Support development of nursing policies aligned with regulatory standards
  • Lead performance improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes
  • Conduct leadership rounds with patients, staff, and physicians
  • Ensure timely resolution of patient concerns and incident reports

Patient Experience

  • Promote a patient-first culture and service excellence
  • Drive initiatives to improve patient satisfaction and engagement
  • Support recruitment, retention, and a professional practice environment

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead and mentor nursing leaders to drive engagement and accountability
  • Support education, training, and professional development programs
  • Collaborate with educators to ensure staff readiness and competency
  • Build strong relationships with physicians and interdisciplinary teams

Financial Management

  • Assist in budget planning and resource allocation
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining care quality
  • Ensure appropriate staffing for safe, high-quality patient care

 

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (Required)
  • Master’s Degree in Nursing (Required)
  • Active RN license (or compact license)
  • 5+ years of nursing leadership experience
  • 5+ years of inpatient Behavioral Health leadership (Required)
  • Must currently be a Unit Director or above
  • Strong leadership, communication, and strategic thinking skills

Compensation & Benefits

Salary: $140,000 – $155,000
Bonus: 17.5% performance-based
