Registered Nurse (RN) – Immunization Nurse (Vaccination Initiative)

Location: Atascadero, CA 93422
Contract Duration: August 23, 2026 – October 31, 2026
Position Type: Contract | Full-Time
Schedule: Approximately 40 Hours/Week
Work Days: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday & Saturday
Shift: 10:00 AM – 6:30 PM
Setting: Retail Pharmacy / Community Healthcare Clinic

Position Overview\n

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to support a community vaccination initiative. This patient-facing role focuses on administering a variety of immunizations while delivering exceptional clinical care and patient education in a fast-paced retail healthcare environment.

The ideal candidate is flexible, detail-oriented, and committed to promoting public health through safe and efficient vaccine administration.

Key Responsibilities\n
    \n
  • Administer a wide range of vaccines, including but not limited to:\n
      \n
    • Influenza (Flu)
    • \n
    • COVID-19
    • \n
    • MMR
    • \n
    • Hepatitis A & B
    • \n
    • Tdap
    • \n
    • Shingles
    • \n
    • Pneumococcal
    • \n
    • HPV
    • \n
    • RSV
    • \n
    • Other recommended immunizations
    • \n
  • \n
  • Conduct patient assessments prior to vaccine administration.
  • \n
  • Monitor patients for adverse reactions and provide appropriate interventions when necessary.
  • \n
  • Educate patients on vaccine benefits, potential side effects, and post-vaccination care.
  • \n
  • Maintain accurate patient documentation and immunization records.
  • \n
  • Follow established infection prevention, medication administration, and patient safety protocols.
  • \n
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals and support staff to ensure efficient clinic operations.
  • \n
  • Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care while maintaining a professional demeanor.
  • \n
  • Adapt to changing workflows and patient volumes in a dynamic healthcare environment.

Required Qualifications\n
    \n
  • Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of California.
  • \n
  • Minimum of one (1) year of nursing experience, including immunization administration and direct patient care.
  • \n
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • \n
  • Strong clinical assessment and medication administration skills.
  • \n
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
  • \n
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • \n
  • Must not appear on the DEA Excluded Parties List.
  • \n
  • High School Diploma or GED (verification required).
  • \n
Preferred Qualifications\n
    \n
  • Previous experience in immunization clinics, retail health, ambulatory care, occupational health, or public health.
  • \n
  • Experience administering high-volume vaccination programs.
  • \n
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • \n
  • Comfortable working with patients of all ages.
