Medication Assistant | Highgate Senior Living – Bozeman, MT

Compensation: $22–$25 per hour

As a Medication Assistant, you’ll combine safe medication support with thoughtful, hands-on care that respects each resident’s preferences, dignity, and daily rhythm.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Medication Assistant safely delivers medications, treatments, and direct care to residents in our assisted living and memory care community. You’ll observe changes in condition, communicate important updates, and work closely with nurses, leaders, families, and Care Partners.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Safely and accurately pass medications and provide treatments to assigned residents.

Read and follow service plans, medication records, and resident preferences.

Complete medication administration records and controlled-medication counts.

Observe and report physical, emotional, or cognitive changes in residents.

Provide assistance with dressing, bathing, toileting, transfers, eating, and other daily needs.

Respond appropriately during resident and community emergencies.

Communicate resident concerns and unresolved family questions to the appropriate leader or nurse.

Coordinate medication passes to reduce interruptions to activities, outings, and dining.

Support residents with progressive dementias using patience, consistency, and person-first care.

Maintain compliance with Highgate policies and applicable state and local requirements.

SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES

Careful and dependable with strong attention to detail.

Warm, respectful communication with residents, families, and team members.

Calm judgment during changes in condition or emergencies.

Ability to protect resident privacy, dignity, and personal choice.

Comfort working independently while knowing when to ask for clinical support.

Commitment to accurate documentation and safe medication practices.

RELATABLE EXPERIENCE

Medication assistance or medication technician work.

Assisted living, memory care, long-term care, or home care.

Caregiving or direct support for older adults.

Work involving medication records, controlled counts, or treatment documentation.

Customer service or hospitality experience supporting people with patience and compassion.

QUALIFICATIONS

At least 18 years of age.

Current CPR and First Aid certification, or ability to obtain.

Current TB test.

Ability to pass required background screening.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to meet Montana and local licensing requirements for the position.

Ability to sit, stand, bend, move throughout the workday, and lift or carry up to 50 pounds with assistance.
