Penmac Staffing is recruiting on behalf of a confidential manufacturing client seeking a Senior Process Engineer to support and optimize specialty polymer manufacturing operations in Spartanburg, SC. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer who enjoys process improvement, technical leadership, troubleshooting, and driving operational excellence in a high-performance manufacturing environment.
Requirements for the Senior Process Engineer
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, Materials Engineering, or related field
- 6-10 years of experience in polymer manufacturing, specialty chemicals, plastics, resins, compounding, or related manufacturing environments
- Strong knowledge of polymer processing, chemical manufacturing operations, and process improvement methodologies
- Experience leading root cause investigations and implementing corrective actions
- Knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM), HAZOP, MOC, and industrial safety programs
- Strong analytical, project management, and communication skills
Senior Process Engineer Responsibilities
- Optimize polymerization, extrusion, pelletizing, and related manufacturing processes
- Analyze production data to improve throughput, yield, product quality, and equipment effectiveness
- Lead troubleshooting efforts involving process deviations, equipment issues, and quality concerns
- Support new product introductions, process scale-up activities, and manufacturing improvements
- Develop process models, mass balances, operating procedures, and engineering documentation
- Participate in capital projects, equipment upgrades, and commissioning activities
- Partner with operations, maintenance, quality, and technical teams to drive continuous improvement
- Lead Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma initiatives focused on cost reduction and operational efficiency
- Support environmental, safety, and regulatory compliance programs
