Associate Medical Director – Hospice

A respected, mission-driven hospice organization is seeking an experienced Associate Medical Director to provide clinical leadership and medical oversight for hospice patients and interdisciplinary care teams. This physician leader will play a key role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality, compassionate end-of-life care while supporting organizational growth, quality initiatives, and regulatory compliance.

Position Summary

The Associate Medical Director provides medical direction for hospice services, working closely with interdisciplinary teams, community physicians, healthcare partners, patients, and families. The role includes oversight of hospice eligibility, symptom management, care planning, quality improvement efforts, and physician education.

Key Responsibilities

Provide medical oversight and clinical leadership for hospice patients across multiple care settings.

Collaborate with attending physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, social workers, chaplains, and other members of the interdisciplinary team.

Participate in care planning and interdisciplinary team meetings to ensure quality patient outcomes.

Conduct patient evaluations and clinical consultations as needed.

Support hospice admissions, recertifications, and regulatory compliance requirements.

Provide education and guidance regarding hospice philosophy, palliative care principles, symptom management, and end-of-life care.

Serve as a resource for clinical staff, patients, families, referral sources, and community physicians.

Assist with quality improvement initiatives and organizational goals.

Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, accreditation, and organizational standards.

Candidate Qualifications

MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.

Current unrestricted license to practice medicine.

Board certification in a relevant specialty.

Minimum of two years of clinical practice experience.

Hospice and Palliative Medicine certification or experience strongly preferred.

Current DEA registration.

Demonstrated leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
