We are currently recruiting for a Temporary Child Support Officer position with the Office of the Attorney General.
Minimum Qualifications
To be considered, applicants must:
- Pass a criminal background check
- Meet one of the following requirements:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; OR
- Four (4) years of experience in the legal field; OR
- Four (4) years of collections experience
Position Summary
This position performs child support enforcement activities, including locating absent parents, establishing paternity, enforcing court-ordered child support obligations, and assisting customers with child support-related inquiries.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct investigations to locate parents, verify employment, and identify assets
- Prepare legal and administrative documents related to child support cases
- Monitor and manage child support cases
- Negotiate payment arrangements and lump-sum collections
- Respond to customer inquiries and complaints
- Maintain accurate case documentation and electronic records
- Assist legal staff during court proceedings as needed
- Review cases for appropriate enforcement actions or closure
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
- Comply with agency policies, procedures, ethics, and integrity standards
Required Skills
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Effective interviewing and negotiation abilities
- Computer proficiency, including data entry and document preparation
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
- Sound judgment and decision-making skills
- Ability to work effectively in a professional office environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university
- Experience in investigations or child support enforcement
- Ability to read, write, and speak Spanish
Physical and Work Requirements
- Ability to travel for business-related purposes
- Ability to work overtime as needed
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
