Orchard Park Family Practice, a large, dynamic Family Practice located in Orchard Park and Depew NY, has a current job opportunity for a full-time Medical Receptionist.
Orchard Park Family Practice is seeking a Medical Receptionists with a minimum of 1 year of experience in a similar position at a medical office, medical terminology knowledge, and exhibits initiative and self-motivation with the ability to effectively problem solve while working in a team atmosphere. We are looking for a reliable, friendly, and organized Medical Receptionist who is willing to commute between Depew and Orchard Park office locations as needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
- Greeting patients and visitors in a warm and friendly manner
- Responsible for checking patients in and out; verifies patient information, insurance coverage, collecting copayments and outstanding balances
- Comforts patients by anticipating patients' anxieties; answering patients' questions; maintaining the reception area
- Maintains patient accounts by obtaining, recording, and updating personal and financial information
- Protects patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information at the front desk
- Responsible for answering telephones, determine patients' needs and respond accordingly
- Ensure detailed messages are taken and routed to appropriate personnel for triage
- Ability to schedule appointments; utilizing medical experience in order to determine appointment requirement (e.g. regular office visit, urgent visit, etc.)
- Ability to respond to triage from providers asking for clarification when necessary
- Contacting patients due to missed appointments and remind of practice no-show policy
- Ensure understanding of scheduling templates for each provider; including office visit types and time allotted for each
- Ability to forward triages from a provider to a patient through telephone contact
- Must be able to communicate calmly, compassionately, and professionally with all different types of patients including the elderly, ailing, and handicapped
- Participation in performance improvement initiatives
- Participates in quality meetings
- Actively participates in care teams
- Demonstrates understanding of HIPAA
- Assures patient confidentiality to include securing of patient PHI
- Adheres to the Policies and Procedures of the practice
- Additional duties as assigned
The ideal candidate will have superb customer service skills, empathy, patience and the ability to reassure and calm concerned patients. We seek an individual who possesses a broad knowledge of medical terminology, exhibits excellent verbal communication skills with a strong attention to detail as well as the ability to work within a team.
Experience with Medent preferred.
