Job Summary

The Technician will be responsible for disassembling, inspecting, repairing, testing, and reassembling hydraulic pumps, motors, and control valves. This role involves mechanical and technical problem-solving, utilizing precision measuring tools, schematics, and hydraulic testing equipment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, inspect, and repair hydraulic pumps, motors, and valves from various manufacturers.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and other shop equipment to disassemble, reassemble and test hydraulic components.
  • Disassemble units, clean components, and identify worn or damaged parts.
  • Operate hydraulic test stands to verify performance and detect malfunctions.
  • Interpret hydraulic schematics and manufacturer technical manuals to execute repairs.
  • Record findings, repair procedures, and test results in the company’s system.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment compliant with OSHA and company safety policies.
  • Collaborate with engineering and parts departments to determine repair parts and upgrades.
  • Assist with field diagnostics and service when needed.


Common Work Activities

  • Assembling and reassembling complex hydraulic equipment.
  • Using precision tools like calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
  • Calibrating components to manufacturer specifications.
  • Reading technical drawings and hydraulic schematics.
  • Troubleshooting electrical and fluid power systems.
  • Maintaining work records and logging repair steps.
  • Performing high-pressure testing and load simulations.


Technology Skills

  • Use of hydraulic diagnostic software and data logging tools.
  • Familiarity with test bench software (e.g., Bosch Rexroth or Parker test equipment).
  • Microsoft Excel, Word, and cloud-based maintenance systems.
  • Digital micrometers, pressure sensors, and flow meters.


Detailed Work Activities

  • Repair and maintain hydraulic control systems and servo mechanisms.
  • Align and adjust hydraulic components to match performance specs.
  • Measure critical tolerances using calipers, dial indicators, and bore gauges.
  • Document hydraulic test data and generate performance reports.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to order specialized components.


Qualifications

Required:

  • 3+ years of experience in hydraulic system repair or equivalent mechanical repair.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of fluid power systems.
  • Ability to interpret hydraulic and mechanical schematics.

Preferred:

  • Associate's degree or technical certification in Mobile or Industrial Hydraulics, Fluid Power, or related field.
  • Field service or mobile equipment repair experience.


Certifications (Preferred/Required)

  • IFPS Certification (International Fluid Power Society):
    • Hydraulic Specialist (HS)
    • Mobile Hydraulic Mechanic (MHM)
    • Connector & Conductor Certification
  • OSHA 10/30 General Industry
  • Forklift and Overhead Crane Certification
