About the Opportunity

Our client, a stable and established accounting firm located in Frisco, Texas, is seeking an experienced Tax Manager to join their team. This is a direct-hire opportunity with a smaller, relationship-focused firm that values communication, client service, and long-term stability.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience preparing and managing both individual and business tax returns, enjoy working closely with clients, and prefer a stable environment outside of a large public accounting firm.

This firm does not perform auditing or state tax work.

Position Summary

The Tax Manager will be responsible for managing tax engagements for both personal and business clients. This role requires strong technical tax knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to build trusted relationships with clients.

The position will begin fully in-office, especially during business/tax seasons, with the potential to transition to a hybrid schedule over time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage preparation and review of individual and business tax returns
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with clients regarding tax matters, documentation, and deadlines
  • Oversee tax workflow and assist with managing priorities during busy seasons
  • Work closely with firm leadership, managers, and staff
  • Provide guidance and support to junior staff as needed
  • Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and quality in all tax-related work
  • Maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication
  • Support the firm’s commitment to responsive, personalized service

Qualifications

  • Active CPA license required
  • Minimum of 5+ years of tax experience
  • Strong experience with both individual and business tax returns
  • Prior experience in a small to mid-sized accounting firm preferred
  • Strong client communication skills required
  • Ability to manage client relationships and tax workflow independently
  • Stable work history preferred
  • Must be comfortable working in-office during busy seasons
  • Candidates from smaller accounting firm environments are strongly preferred

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is someone who:

  • Holds an active CPA license
  • Values job stability and long-term career growth
  • Enjoys working in a smaller firm environment
  • Has strong technical tax experience
  • Communicates well with clients and internal team members
  • Is responsible, dependable, and professional
  • Can manage both personal and business tax work
  • Prefers a client-focused role rather than a large corporate accounting environment
  • Is located near McKinney or seeking to avoid a downtown Dallas commute

Firm Structure

The firm has approximately 10 employees and includes staff, managers, and partners. The environment is collaborative, professional, and relationship-driven.

Interview Process

The interview process is expected to include 1–2 rounds and may involve meeting with partners from each team.

Compensation

Salary is commensurate with experience and will be determined based on the candidate’s skills, tax expertise, CPA status, and overall fit for the firm.

Additional Notes

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced CPA and tax professional seeking a stable, direct-hire role with a respected McKinney-based firm and a strong client-service culture.
