Job Description
Medical professional with prescriptive authority to provide services to clients of Sumter Behavioral Health Services (SBHS) to include substance use disorder examinations, physical and mental status examinations, and medication management, including psychiatric medication management and medication assisted treatment (MAT) for opioid use disorder (OUD) and alcohol use disorder. The medical provider will see clients engaging in an Outpatient Programs within SBHS. The Provider must be willing to provide services in the office, in a mobile clinic, and also via telehealth.
Core Responsibilities:
Maintains appropriate state licensure required by role. Demonstrates a willingness to contribute professional skills and time for unusual circumstances that may require additional work time and assignments outside of customary work hours and assignments. Provides services medically related to basic primary care, substance use and MAT, as well as mental health concerns. Understands and implements agency “need to know” policy on the access to personally identifiable information and/or client data. Maintains agency, state, and federal standards of confidentiality in the handling of sensitive information regarding client clinical data, as well as any personally identifiable information.
Specific Responsibilities:
Provides medical services to Sumter BHS clients in concert with the clinical teams. Provides medical support to crisis intervention services for walk-in clients as needed. Serve as a member of the multi-disciplinary treatment team and provides medical consultation and treatment for any patient; making referrals to outside specialty providers as needed. Maintains licensure in accordance with the regulating authority of relevant field of practice. Maintains client charts according to quality standards and time requirements set by the agency. Maintains accurate records as required by OSUS, Medicaid and agency policy/procedures, as assigned. Performs other duties as assigned by Executive Director/Medical Director.
Minimum Qualifications:
Current South Carolina licensure as a Nurse Practitioner, Physician’s Assistant, or other profession with prescriptive authority. Experience in providing services to clients with substance use disorders is desired and an advanced practice certification in addiction medicine is ideal.
