Line and prep cook

Job description
We are looking for a dependable, organized, and team-oriented Line & Prep Cook to join our kitchen staff. This role is responsible for food preparation, maintaining kitchen cleanliness, and executing menu items efficiently during service. The ideal candidate works well under pressure, values consistency, and takes pride in producing high-quality food.

Responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients for daily service, including chopping, portioning, sauces, and batch prep
• Cook and plate menu items according to café recipes and standards
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen stations
• Follow food safety, sanitation, and health regulations
• Stock and rotate inventory using FIFO methods
• Assist with receiving deliveries and storing products properly
• Work collaboratively with front-of-house and kitchen staff
• Help with opening and closing kitchen duties
• Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient work environment

Qualifications

• Previous line cook, prep cook, or kitchen experience preferred
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Strong attention to detail and consistency
• Reliable attendance and punctuality
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs
• Weekend and holiday availability may be required
• Food safety certification is a plus

Groundwater is a cafe serving artisan breakfast and lunch sandwiches, soups and salads. We also serve tapas 3-4 evenings a week. Groundwater market has a small, fresh grab-and-go section of ready-to-eat or prepared sandwiches and meals.
