Production Technician - Air Separation Unit (ASU)

Location: Bloomington, TX 77951
Pay Rate: $17.20 - $23.00 per hour
Contract Length: 1 Year
Schedule: 12-Hour Shifts | Approximately 48 Hours per Week

Job Summary

We are seeking a Production Technician to operate and maintain a cryogenic Air Separation Unit (ASU) facility in Bloomington, TX. This role is responsible for ensuring safe and efficient plant operations, maintaining production requirements, supporting quality and regulatory compliance, and performing preventative and corrective maintenance on plant equipment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor a cryogenic Air Separation Unit (ASU).
• Perform daily plant rounds and inspections.
• Assist with truck loading operations.
• Conduct water sampling and testing.
• Monitor, control, and adjust plant processes using SCADA, HMI, and PLC systems.
• Maintain product flow rates, purities, pressures, and production efficiency.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and operating manuals.
• Complete quality assurance testing and documentation requirements.
• Maintain accurate operational, maintenance, calibration, and production records.
• Analyze plant data to identify and resolve operating issues.
• Perform complex plant operations, including DERIME procedures and warm plant start-ups.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on compressors, pumps, turbines, valves, motors, instrumentation, and electrical systems.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and calibrate PLCs, DCS systems, control valves, pneumatic systems, and electronic instrumentation.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives related to plant reliability, safety, and operational costs.
• Assist with administrative functions including purchasing, inventory, production accounting, and timekeeping.

Safety & Compliance Responsibilities

• Maintain 100% compliance with all company safety policies and procedures.
• Follow current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and all applicable operating standards.
• Promote safe work behaviors and maintain a strong safety culture.
• Participate in incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action planning.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, FDA, and company regulatory requirements.
• Maintain required training records and operational documentation.

Qualifications

Required:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Two years of technical college training, military technical experience, or equivalent industrial experience.
• Minimum of 2 years of Air Separation Plant operations or related industrial plant experience.
• Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently and make operational decisions.
• Experience using common hand tools and testing equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals.

Preferred:

• Water treatment knowledge and experience.
• Basic understanding of refrigeration systems.
• Basic understanding of air separation technologies.
• Experience with SCADA, PLC, DCS, or other industrial control systems.

Additional Requirements

• Must be able to work overtime as needed.
• Must be available for on-call responsibilities to support uninterrupted plant operations.
• Ability to work weekends and holidays when required.
• Comfortable working independently and in a continuous-process industrial environment.
• Ability to maintain continuous mental focus and visual attention while operating and maintaining plant equipment.
