Description:
Labor & Delivery / Postpartum RN

?? Candidates must have Labor & Delivery and Postpartum experience.

Unit Description

• Serves labor, delivery, postpartum, and antepartum patients
• Cesarean sections are performed on the floor with the OB RN supporting the patient and caring for the baby (OR team scrubs and circulates)
• Approximately 400 deliveries per year
• Core staffing of 4 RNs per shift

Unit Size

• 11 beds

Expected Ratios

• 1:1 for laboring patients
• 2–3 mother/baby couplets per nurse for postpartum

Float Requirements

• Required to float to Med/Surg, ED, ICU, and Mental Health as a 1:1 sitter
• Does not take a nursing assignment when floating

On-Call Requirements

• May occasionally be placed on call if census is low

Weekend & Holiday Requirements

• N/A

Required Certifications

• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• AWHONN Basic Fetal Monitoring
