Job Description

This role focuses on the fabrication, assembly, and welding of metal parts using MIG and flux-cored processes in a modern, climate-controlled facility. You will interpret blueprints, operate fabrication equipment, and produce high-quality components that meet precise design specifications and tolerances.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate, assemble, and weld metal parts in accordance with job specifications and design requirements.
• Use MIG welding machines with flux-cored wire electrode to complete assigned welding work.
• Operate fabrication shop machinery and equipment, including welding machines, cutting torches, grinders, overhead cranes, and forklifts.
• Read and interpret job specifications to determine appropriate machine adjustments and material requirements.
• Remove welding slag, burrs, sharp edges, rust, or scale from workpieces to ensure clean and safe finished products.
• Perform minor machine maintenance, including cleaning equipment and changing consumable parts as needed.
• Read and interpret blueprints for intricate and complex parts to support precise fabrication and assembly.
• Lay out and fabricate workpieces to meet design specifications and tolerances, ensuring dimensional accuracy.
• Set up welding equipment properly and pass an all-position test using GMAW and FCAW-G processes.
• Use hand tools, power tools, and measuring tools, including tape measures, to verify dimensions and quality of work.
• Follow safety procedures and best practices while working with welding equipment, overhead cranes, and forklifts.

Essential Skills

• At least 1 year of experience with MIG and flux core welding.
• Proficiency using MIG welding machines with flux-cored wire electrode.
• Ability to weld in all positions, including flat, vertical, and overhead, while maintaining a consistent weld bead size.
• Ability to read a tape measure accurately.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, especially for intricate and complex parts.
• Ability to fabricate and lay out work to meet design specifications and tolerances.
• Ability to set up weld equipment and pass an all-position test using GMAW and FCAW-G processes.
• Experience using fabrication shop equipment such as welding machines, cutting torches, grinders, overhead cranes, and forklifts.
• Comfort working with hand tools and power tools in a fabrication environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Three to six months of work experience in heavy equipment manufacturing preferred.
• Familiarity with operating overhead cranes and forklifts in a production setting.
• Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality welds and fabrications.
• Strong focus on safety and proper use of fabrication tools and equipment.

Work Environment

The role is based in a newer, climate-controlled building that provides a comfortable and consistent working environment throughout the year. Fabricators work with welding machines, cutting torches, grinders, overhead cranes, forklifts, and other fabrication tools in a production setting. The day shift operates Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., while the night shift operates Monday through Thursday from 2:30 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. The facility emphasizes safety, modern equipment, and an organized shop layout to support efficient fabrication and welding operations.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Jacksonville, FL.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00/hr.
