Description\n

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring 2+ years of L&D experience and current EPIC proficiency.

  • Work in the Birth Center of a Level II Trauma Center hospital with a Level IV NICU
  • \n
  • Unit includes 15 labor rooms, 12 antepartum beds, 4 OB ED beds, 3 ORs, and an 18-bed post-partum area
  • \n
  • High acuity patient population including hypertension, magnesium administration, C-sections (33% rate), preterm labor, insulin drips, vaginal deliveries, epidurals, inductions, PROM, multiple births, and post-partum hemorrhage
  • \n
  • Facility performs up to 300 deliveries per month
  • \n
  • Patient ratios follow AWHONN guidelines: 1:1 active labor, 1:2 non-active laboring, and 1:2-3 antepartum based on acuity
  • \n
  • 10-hour night shifts, 40 hours per week
  • \n
  • Shift times are 1900-0730
  • \n
  • Weekend rotation is every other weekend, though may vary based on need
  • \n
  • No mandatory call requirements, though may pick up open shifts as needed
  • \n
  • Floating required to Antepartum (within L&D) and occasionally to Postpartum (4th floor), plus additional assignments within scope and experience
  • \n
  • EPIC EMR experience required
  • \n
  • Uses Alaris CareFusion IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, Centricity/Qx fetal surveillance monitors, CAD Solaris epidural pumps, Panda warmers, and Coviden SCDs
  • \n
Requirements\n

  • Active WA or compact RN license required
  • \n
  • Current certifications: BLS, NRP, and Intermediate Fetal Heart Monitoring (AWHONN)
  • \n
  • Minimum 2 years of L&D RN experience required; 5+ years preferred, with previous travel experience preferred
  • \n
  • High acuity experience including labor management and delivery of high-risk OB patients required
  • \n
  • Ability to triage OB patients, circulate in OR, perform cervical checks, and read/interpret fetal monitoring strips
  • \n
  • Must be able to serve as second set of hands to receive and recover normal newborns as needed
  • \n
  • EPIC EMR experience required
  • \n

  • Provide labor management and delivery care for high-risk OB patients across antepartum, labor, delivery, and post-partum phases
  • \n
  • Support unit includes CNAs, LPN scrub techs (NRP certified), receptionist/HUC, free-floating charge nurse, resource RN (staffing dependent), and scheduled break nurses
  • \n
  • 24/7 respiratory therapy support available, with NICU RTs attending high-risk deliveries
  • \n
  • 24/7 laborist coverage with residents, fellows, and additional physicians/midwives in house
  • \n
  • Anesthesia coverage scheduled during day shift and shared after 1700
  • \n
  • Holiday coverage expected on a fair and equitable basis
  • \n
  • RTO requests must be submitted prior to contract approval, with incidental days off discussed with the charge nurse or manager
  • \n
  • Schedule is released in 6-week increments, 2 weeks prior to the start of each schedule cycle; block schedules cannot be guaranteed
  • \n
  • Scrubs are provided by the facility and must not be worn outside the facility
  • \n
  • Free badge-access parking available in designated areas
  • \n
  • First-time travelers considered upon review
