EMSL is seeking a Laboratory Analyst (Microbiology/Food) in Indianapolis, IN. Position will be responsible for microbiology and food microbiology laboratory sample preparation and analysis including but not limited to:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Preparation and analysis of Microbiological samples (air, water, and bulk materials) for fungi and bacteria
Quantitative and Qualitative Analysis for Food to include: Aerobic Plate Count, Total Coliform / E. coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Yeast & Mold, Salmonella, Listeria, E. coli O157:H7.
Sample preparation and pH Adjustments
Documentation of sample preparation and analytical activities
Quantitative and Qualitative analysis of bacteria cultures to include common environmental bacteria such as Micrococcus, MRSA, Legionella, Bacillus, etc.
Confirmation analysis of presumptive and suspect isolates, requiring critical and flexible thinking approaches
Perform quality control practices per company Quality Assurance/Quality Control manual
Administrative duties including sample login and data entry, scanning and emailing reports and answering phones
Cross training in other lab disciplines
Other responsibilities as deemed necessary by the manager
Requirements:
Bachelors Degree in Life Science is required, preferably in Biology or Microbiology
Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely and without restriction or sponsorship
Laboratory experience either in academic or commercial setting is a plus
Experience with aseptic technique, food microbiology, or other culture-based microbiology lab experience is a plus
Ability to work with phase contrast and light microscopes, analytical balances, biological safety cabinets, filtration manifolds, and adhere to sterile techniques and good lab practices
Ability to distinguish colors in order to perform analysis
Ability to work independently, and as a part of a team, self-motivated, adaptability, and a positive attitude
Effective time management organizational skills, and ability to multi- task and prioritize with minimal assistance
Available Shift:
Position is full time, Monday – Friday 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.; Saturday rotational schedule as needed
Training schedule is Monday to Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
