Job Summary:
Interventional Radiology Technician in Golden, Colorado. This role involves performing angiography procedures, providing procedural assistance as a circulating, scrub, or monitoring technician, and operating imaging and IR (Interventional Radiology) equipment. The technician will ensure patient safety, maintain sterile techniques, and contribute to diagnostic and interventional procedures across vascular and interventional specialties.
Job Details:
- Responsible for completing angiography procedures, scrubbing, setting techniques, and taking images.
- Maintains up-to-date licensure and certifications required for the position.
- Provides procedural assistance as a circulating tech, scrub tech, or monitoring tech according to IR lab policies and procedures and Scope of Practice documents.
- Understands and operates IR equipment and related information systems appropriately to ensure that quality images are produced.
- Ensures proper patient identification, order verification, and prepares the patient for the exam.
- Adheres to radiation safety guidelines and maintains a safe working environment for patients and staff.
- Develops specific knowledge about invasive, diagnostic, and interventional supplies, appropriate indications and applications, and proper use and deployment techniques.
- Follows appropriate protocol for medical necessity, coding and charging guidelines, obtaining necessary consents, maintaining applicable quality control programs, and reporting any equipment failures or problems.
- Provides appropriate patient education, ensures patient comfort, and addresses patient and/or family concerns.
- Keeps accurate records of patient information, procedures performed, and any adverse reactions or incidents.
- Coordinates patient care and communicates pertinent information to other patient care providers following the procedure.
- At the end of the procedure, sutures the sheath in place or removes the sheath and applies pressure to obtain hemostasis.
- Maintains work area and stocks needed supplies.
- Transports patients as needed.
- Assists with SIRT mapping/treatments, embolizations, nephrostomy tube placements, biliary tube placements, CT guided procedures including drains, biopsies, and ablations, and performs neuro-IR stroke and diagnostic procedures.
- Schedule: Three or four 10-hour shifts per week, with call requirements (one weekday shift per week and one weekend per month).
- Certification: ARRT(R) and BLS (AHA) required.
- Skills: Proficiency in vascular and interventional procedures, radiography, operating imaging equipment, infection control, patient care, and emergency response.
- Education: Not applicable.
- Licensure and certifications are required as specified.
