Description

American Traveler is hiring a CT Technologist with 2+ years of experience and ARRT (CT) certification to support a fast-paced, complex trauma and inpatient/outpatient caseload at an acute care hospital.

Details

  • 13-week assignment in the CT department of an acute care hospital
  • Work setting includes outpatient, inpatient, ER, community hospital, and adult ICU areas
  • Patient population includes trauma, angio, ED, inpatient, and outpatient cases requiring biopsies and drainages
  • Most patient load comes from inpatient and ER services
  • 3x12 hour day shifts, Thursday through Saturday, from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM (or 7:30 AM to 7:30 PM) with no lunch break
  • On-call coverage required
  • Weekend coverage not typical but possible if needed
  • No floating to sister facilities and no floating outside scope required
  • CT procedures include abdomen, pelvis, head/neck, chest, spine, musculoskeletal, CT arthrography, myelography, CTAs, and multiplanar reconstruction
  • Uses GE CT equipment; Toshiba equipment experience preferred
  • Charting completed in Cerner; Epic experience preferred

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of CT Technologist experience required
  • BLS and ARRT (CT) certification required; ARRT Advanced and ARRT (R) certifications required
  • License required if applicable
  • Level II Trauma Center experience required; Level I Trauma experience preferred
  • Community hospital experience required
  • Proficiency in IV starts, venipuncture, and contrast media preparation/administration required
  • Skilled in image display and post-processing, including 3D rendering, multiplanar reconstruction, and ROI measurement
  • Experience with abdomen/pelvis studies including contrast, colorectal studies, enterography, and IVP
  • Experience with head/neck, spine, musculoskeletal, and chest CT procedures, including vascular and trauma imaging
  • Cerner charting experience required
  • Must be able to work with adult and pediatric patient populations across acute care, outpatient, and ICU settings
  • Knowledge of isolation precautions, PPE, and radiation safety required

  • Requires cultural sensitivity when working with the Alaska Native population
  • Patient population is complex, often involving significant social history and domestic violence cases
  • First-time travelers accepted for this position
  • Locals not accepted; candidates must live at least 100 miles from the facility
  • Former employees must have been separated from the facility for at least 2 years before returning as a traveler
  • COVID vaccination acknowledgment required prior to starting
  • Scrubs may be any color or pattern, except in L&D/OR areas where scrubs are provided
  • Onsite orientation and annual training modules are required, averaging 4-5 hours and completed through HealthStream
  • Facility is a Magnet-designated acute care hospital with 152 staffed beds
  • No cost for parking; travelers are encouraged to use the on-site parking structure
