Description
American Traveler is seeking an Outpatient Physical Therapist with at least 1 year of experience for a Critical Access Hospital offering outpatient, inpatient, and home visit services.
Details
- Critical Access Hospital setting in a rural community offering outpatient, inpatient, home visits, and a swing bed program
- Unit: PT Outpatient
- Work settings include acute care, outpatient clinic, rehabilitation hospital, and skilled nursing facility (SNF)
- Shift options include 4x10 days (0800-1830) or 5x8 days (0800-1600)
- Weekend rotation required every 3rd weekend
- No on-call requirement
- No floating to sister facilities required
- Epic charting system preferred
- Patient population includes orthopedic conditions (cervicalgia, low back pain, post-op cervical/shoulder/spinal surgery, spinal conditions, total hip/knee replacement) and neurologic conditions (cognitive disorders, MS, muscular dystrophy, Parkinson's disease, post-stroke rehab, spinal cord injury, TBI)
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of experience required
- BLS certification required (AHA or ARC accepted)
- First-time travelers accepted if candidate has at least 2 years of experience in discipline
- License required if applicable
- Experience with assessment skills including body mechanics, AROM/AAROM/PROM, pain assessment, strength testing, and vital sign monitoring
- Skills in home exercise programs, patient/family education, and safety/injury prevention
- Documentation experience including evaluations, discharge planning, long/short term goals, plan of care, and reassessments
- Experience with equipment such as bed alarms, call lights, hospital/specialty beds, and gait belts
- Experience with modalities including TENS, ultrasound, cryotherapy, and moist heat preferred
- Wound/ulcer assessment and simple dressing change skills preferred
Additional Information
- Evaluate, plan, and implement individualized treatment programs to improve patient mobility, reduce pain, and support independence
- Collaborate with providers and care teams across acute, outpatient, and/or long-term care settings
- Geriatric and cardiopulmonary/circulatory patient populations included, with breathing technique skills preferred
- Open to accommodating block scheduling
- Accepts local candidates

- Travel pairs accepted and can work the same shift
