Key Responsibilities- Evaluate and assess patients' abilities and limitations, establishing individualized plans of treatment and goals based on functional skills, joint mobility, gait, muscle strength, coordination, and sensation testing.
- Implement physical therapy according to the established treatment plan, utilizing appropriate procedures, equipment, and techniques within the scope of physical therapy practice.
- Educate patients and/or caregivers regarding evaluation findings, therapy goals, home programs, and injury prevention strategies.
- Collaborate and co-treat with interdisciplinary patient care team members to integrate physical therapy with overall patient care and set treatment objectives.
- Re-evaluate patient progress, make recommendations regarding discharge, and ensure accurate and timely documentation of all patient care activities.
- Supervise patient care activities of aides, assistants, students, and volunteers, and participate in departmental inservices, staff meetings, and continuing education activities.
- Active Physical Therapist license to practice in the State of Iowa.
- Graduate of an APTA-accredited college or university with a certificate, master's degree, or doctorate in Physical Therapy.
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations professionally in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
- Experience treating patients across all age groups with neurological, burn/wound, or musculoskeletal conditions in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Experience with adaptive equipment recommendation, justification, and coordination of delivery.
- Familiarity with ergonomic assessments and home or work environment evaluations.
