Job Description

What We're Building

Mansfield Hall is a living and learning community for neurodivergent college students, students who are capable of college but not yet fully ready for total independence. We organize the work around four areas: Living (independent living skills), Learning (academic and executive functioning), Giving (community involvement), and Engaging (social and emotional growth). Coaches are how all four of those actually happen. Not in a classroom, in the moment, every day.

What You'll Actually Do

  • Provide direct coaching and support to residential students navigating daily schedules, community expectations, social situations, and individual goals
  • Help students follow the routines in their Student MAPs
  • Build positive, professional relationships with students that include encouragement, accountability, feedback, and clear boundaries
  • Address and de-escalate student well-being concerns
  • Facilitate social interactions and coordinate extracurricular activities
  • Monitor and document student progress; manage the on-call staff phone during your shift
  • Assist with meal setup and community space upkeep

Why This Might Not Be the Job for You

  • You'd rather solve a problem for a student than coach them through solving it themselves
  • You're most comfortable in quiet, highly predictable environments with few interruptions
  • You're uncomfortable addressing interpersonal conflict or emotional situations as they happen
  • You struggle to hold a boundary with someone you also genuinely like, or to give direct feedback
  • You'd rather work independently than communicate constantly with a team

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in behavioral sciences, psychology, education, social work, or a related field
  • At least one year of direct experience coaching, mentoring, tutoring, or supporting young adults
  • Comfort in a dynamic residential environment supporting up to 50 students
  • Clear, respectful, professional communication, including in emotionally heightened moments

Schedule

Friday from 8:00am to 4:00pm, Saturday from 9:00am to 5:00pm, plus alternating Saturday shifts from 3:00pm to 11:00pm. We're telling you this up front on purpose. You should know exactly what the week looks like before you apply, not after.

Compensation & Benefits

This role pays $22/hr. Because this is a part-time role, some of the benefits below may be prorated or scoped to part-time eligibility:

  • Medical insurance, with the premium cost shared between Mansfield Hall and the employee, plus an HSA option
  • Employer-funded wellness dollars
  • Free meals and drinks during your shift
  • 401(k) retirement plan with a 4% employer match
  • Paid time off, plus paid winter break
  • Disability and life insurance coverage
  • Work expense reimbursement

How We Interview

We believe candidates and Mansfield Hall both do better with the fullest possible picture of each other, so it's common for three to four people to be part of your interview process. That's not meant to be intimidating, it's meant to give everyone real information before anyone commits.

  1. A 30 minute phone screen
  2. One to two structured interviews, in person or virtual depending on availability and geographic location
  3. Reference and background checks
  4. An offer
