Job Description
Position Summary
The Equipment Operator will safely and efficiently operate heavy equipment used in the installation of underground electrical utilities and site infrastructure. This role requires close coordination with foremen, electricians, and project managers to ensure that all work meets safety, quality, and schedule standards.
Responsibilities
- Operate equipment such as excavators and trenchers for electrical site construction.
- Excavate and backfill trenches for conduit, duct banks, and transformer pads.
- Assist with grading, site preparation, and material handling.
- Read and interpret site plans and staking layouts.
- Perform daily equipment inspections and report any maintenance needs.
- Work with site electricians and laborers to ensure proper installation of underground utilities.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2+ years of experience operating heavy equipment in a construction setting.
- Experience on electrical, utility, or civil construction sites strongly preferred.
- Ability to read site plans and follow direction from supervisors.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Must have certification to operate machinery.
