Bay Area Tutoring Association (BATA) is seeking enthusiastic, dependable, and student-centered Academic Tutors to provide in-class math support at Sonoma Middle School.

If you're passionate about education and enjoy helping students build confidence while strengthening their math skills, this is an excellent opportunity to work alongside classroom teachers and make a meaningful impact during the school day.

Schedule

Monday–Friday

Availability is required between 8:45 AM and 2:55 PM, depending on the assigned classroom schedule.

• Approximately 20 paid hours per week
• Daily hours vary by assignment
• Includes paid planning time, instructional collaboration, and teacher check-ins

Position Summary

As an Academic Tutor, you will support middle school students enrolled in Math 6 or Math 8 by providing individualized and small-group instruction during the regular school day. Working closely with classroom teachers, you'll reinforce grade-level math concepts, encourage student engagement, and help students develop confidence in their academic abilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-class academic support during Math 6 or Math 8 instruction.
• Reinforce grade-level math concepts aligned with classroom instruction.
• Support students individually and in small groups.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers to ensure consistent instructional support.
• Participate in paid planning and instructional alignment meetings.
• Foster a positive, encouraging, and inclusive learning environment.
• Promote student confidence, engagement, and academic growth.

Qualifications

• Strong math skills, including proficiency through Algebra II.
• Experience working with middle school students is preferred.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Dependable, professional, and organized.
• Passionate about helping students succeed.

Program Requirements

• Complete all required BATA onboarding and training.
• Successfully pass a background check.
• Provide current TB clearance prior to working on campus.
