Computed Tomography Technologist Job Description
The Computed Tomography Technologist independently performs imaging procedures, utilizing established scan protocols to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes. This role requires a high level of technical expertise and the ability to adjust protocols as necessary to ensure optimal results.
Responsibilities- Independently perform computed tomography (CT) procedures, including contrast administration.
- Utilize complex imaging equipment for acquisition, analysis, reconstruction, and documentation of image data.
- Demonstrate proper venipuncture techniques and the use of power injectors in accordance with established protocols.
- Administer contrast media (oral, rectal, and IV) per physician orders, assessing patients for potential risk factors.
- Interact effectively with patients and colleagues, displaying caring, listening, dignity, and respect.
- Accurately identify patients using two patient identifiers and adhere to universal protocols during procedures.
- Review patient history and assess physician orders to apply departmental protocols for optimal imaging results.
- Document patient history in electronic records as required and ensure exams are properly coded and tracked.
- Graduate of an ARRT approved school of Radiologic Technology or completion of an accredited CNMT program.
- CT registry must be acquired within 18 months of the date of hire if primary registry is already obtained.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in the field is required.
- ARRT Certificate and Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification (NMTC) required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory.
- Compliance with PA Act 31, PA Act 33, PA Act 34, and PA Act 73.
This position requires a rotating shift of 10 x 4, including three 12-hour shifts per week (7 AM - 7 PM or 11 AM - 11 PM), with every other or every third weekend coverage based on needs.
Assignment DurationThis is a 13-week contract position.
