Job Description
The Lead Welder Mechanic / Lead Copper Mechanic will be responsible for overseeing the installation, fabrication, and assembly of commercial mechanical piping systems while leading field crews to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and according to specifications.
Essential Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise field crews on commercial construction projects.
- Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and mechanical drawings.
- Coordinate daily work activities with project managers and superintendents.
- Install, fabricate, and assemble mechanical piping systems.
- Ensure all work complies with safety regulations, quality standards, and project requirements.
- Maintain project schedules and productivity goals.
- Train and mentor apprentices and junior mechanics.
- Conduct material takeoffs and assist with project planning.
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of tools and equipment.
Additional Responsibilities for Lead Welder Mechanics
- Perform structural and pipe welding using required welding procedures.
- Fabricate and install carbon steel, stainless steel, and other mechanical piping systems.
- Verify weld quality and maintain welding documentation as required.
Additional Responsibilities for Lead Copper Mechanics
- Install and braze copper piping systems for HVAC, plumbing, and refrigeration applications.
- Perform layout and installation of commercial copper piping systems.
- Test and inspect piping systems to ensure compliance with project specifications.
Qualifications
- 2-3+ years of commercial mechanical construction experience preferred.
- Prior leadership or foreman experience preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
- Strong knowledge of commercial mechanical systems.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, bend, climb ladders, and work in varying job site conditions.
- Comfortable working outdoors and in active construction environments.
