Job Title: Floor Technician
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Floor Technician to support Environmental Services (EVS) operations in a hospital setting. The Floor Technician is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, appearance, and safety of all hard floor and carpeted surfaces throughout the facility. This role plays a critical part in creating a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and healthcare staff.
Responsibilities
- Operate floor-care equipment, including auto-scrubbers, burnishers, buffers, and extractors.
- Strip, wax, seal, and polish hard floor surfaces to maintain hospital standards.
- Shampoo and extract carpets in patient care and non-patient care areas.
- Perform routine floor maintenance in hallways, lobbies, patient rooms, offices, waiting areas, and common spaces.
- Remove stains, spills, and debris promptly to ensure a safe environment.
- Follow infection prevention and hospital sanitation protocols at all times.
- Place appropriate caution signs and barriers in work areas to prevent slips, trips, and falls.
- Inspect floors regularly and report damage or maintenance concerns to management.
- Properly store and handle cleaning chemicals and equipment according to safety guidelines.
- Support Environmental Services team members with special cleaning projects as needed.
- Maintain equipment and ensure all tools are cleaned and stored properly after use.
- Complete assigned work orders and daily cleaning schedules accurately and on time.
- Provide excellent customer service to patients, visitors, and hospital staff.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous experience in floor care, environmental services (EVS), housekeeping, or custodial services preferred.
- Knowledge of floor maintenance procedures, including stripping, waxing, buffing, burnishing, and carpet extraction.
- Ability to safely operate floor machines, scrubbers, burnishers, and related equipment.
- Understanding of infection control practices and hospital cleaning standards.
- Familiarity with the safe handling and use of cleaning chemicals and disinfectants.
- Ability to read and follow written instructions, safety guidelines, and work schedules.

Work Environment
This role is based in a hospital environment, requiring adherence to strict cleanliness and safety standards. You will work with specialized floor-care equipment and handle cleaning chemicals, following established protocols. Must be able to work from 3 pm to 11:30 pm
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Carthage, TX.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $15.00 - $15.00/hr.
