Responsibilities

• Assemble small magnetic and metal components according to detailed blueprints, drawings, and written work instructions.
• Retrieve required parts and materials from inventory and organize them at your workstation before beginning each assembly.
• Operate, monitor, and maintain magnetizing, demagnetizing, and marking equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
• Record tracking information and production data on work orders and in computerized systems with a high level of accuracy.
• Inspect assemblies using tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges to verify dimensions and ensure products meet quality standards.
• Apply Lean Manufacturing principles to improve assembly processes, reduce waste, and enhance efficiency.
• Follow stringent quality, customer, and safety requirements at all times, adhering to all documented procedures and QMS systems.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workstation and contribute to a tidy overall work environment.
• Collaborate with other assemblers as part of a team, especially on larger or more complex products, and assist in coordinating team efforts.
• Provide initial approval and limited oversight of other assemblers’ work when required, ensuring adherence to quality and process standards.
• Train other assemblers in equipment operation, assembly techniques, and proper use of tools and work instructions, as needed.
• Adapt to changing product requirements, new work instructions, and evolving customer needs while maintaining productivity and quality.
• Meet demanding schedules, quality expectations, and responsiveness targets by working with a strong sense of urgency and focus.
• Assist with special projects and additional duties assigned by leadership, contributing technical expertise across various industries.
• Perform packing and final inspection tasks as needed to prepare completed assemblies for shipment.

Essential Skills

• Minimum 1 year of experience in product assembly or in roles requiring strict adherence to precise instructions and procedures.
• Ability to work confidently and safely with very small parts and intricate components.
• Strong attention to detail with a proven ability to follow complex, step-by-step instructions without deviation.
• Ability to read, understand, and follow work orders, work instructions, and QMS (Quality Management System) documentation.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and mechanical drawings.
• Experience using hand tools and basic power tools in an assembly or mechanical environment.
• Ability to use measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges for inspection and verification.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to speak, read, and write English clearly.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain high quality standards and consistently meet established procedures and specifications.
• Action-oriented work style with the ability to work independently and take initiative.
• Ability to work at a quick pace with high energy and a strong sense of urgency while maintaining accuracy.
• Cooperative and team-oriented approach, with a willingness to support colleagues and align with company values.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Magnetic or metals background, particularly in environments dealing with precision magnetic assemblies.
• Prior experience in mechanical assembly, repair, or related technical work.
• Experience in quality control or inspection roles that involved rework and problem-solving.
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing concepts and their practical application on the production floor.
• Experience operating or maintaining specialized equipment such as magnetizing, demagnetizing, or marking machines.
• background in industries such as aerospace, healthcare, automotive, or military manufacturing.
• Ability to train and mentor other assemblers in equipment use and assembly techniques.
• No formal degree required; relevant hands-on experience and skills are valued.
• Comfort working with packing and final inspection tasks to prepare products for shipment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Elk Grove Village, IL.

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $21.00/hr.
