Job Description
Make a difference in the lives of students by bringing your expertise as a Special Education Teacher to a vibrant school environment near Chester, VT. This is a full-time contract placement for the 2026-2027 academic year, spanning from August 19, 2026, to June 14, 2027. Three onsite Special Education Teachers are needed to support a diverse student population within both high school and elementary school settings.
Qualifications:
- Professional Vermont Teaching License with one of the following: Special Educator Endorsement, Special Education Consulting Teacher Endorsement, or Intensive Special Education Teacher Endorsement
- Previous experience working with executive function challenges, Autism, severe behaviors, or learning disabilities is highly desirable
- Ability to develop individualized education plans and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including PT/OT professionals
- Fingerprinting required (district will accept approved fingerprints from recent school assignments)
- Strong commitment to inclusive practices, creative problem-solving, and flexibility
Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver specialized instruction tailored to students’ unique academic, behavioral, and life skills needs
- Collaborate with high school pilot program teams focusing on students with Autism, severe behaviors, and those working toward real-world employment and daily living skills
- Support elementary-age students with learning disabilities and Autism, co-teaching as part of a dedicated team
- Participate in IEP meetings, ongoing progress monitoring, and data-driven instruction
- Foster a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment
